Due to the political situation in Egypt in the 50’s and 60’s, it was very difficult for any government to plan the implemention of such expensive projects. That was the situation until President Hosni Mubarak became the leader of Egypt in late 1981. In 1982, he gave the sign for the go-ahead for implementing the underground Metro Projects. We immediately started the projects and since that date we have become the pioneer in Africa and the Middle East, using the most modern hi-tech transportation systm for Urban Public Transportation The National Authority for Tunnels is part of the Ministry of Transport, and was established in 1983. The role of his Authority is to construct Metro systems and road Tunnels. Since that date 63 Km of Metro lines have been implemented with the rate of 3.8 Km per year plus the construction of the associated infrastructures.       The organizational framework to the shape consist of :     Copyright © National Authority for Tunnels 2002
