Due to
the
political
situation
in Egypt
in the
50’s and
60’s, it
was very
difficult
for any
government
to plan
the
implementation
of such
expensive
projects.
In 1982
the
Egyptian
government
set the
Law No.
113 to
establishing
the
National
Authority
for
tunnels
whose
responsible
for
implement
the
Metro
projects
in
Greater
Cairo,
since
that
date we
have
become
the
pioneer
in
Africa
and the
Middle
East,
using
the most
modern
hi-tech
transportation
system
for
Urban
Public
Transportation
- The National Authority for Tunnels is part
of the Ministry of Transport, and was established in 1983. The
role of his Authority is to construct Metro systems and road
Tunnels. Since that date 63 Km of Metro lines have been
implemented with the rate of 3.8 Km per year plus the construction
of the associated infrastructures.
